I'd like to introduce a good friend of mine, Dave Bates. Dave is considered by many to be an expert on "Sheiko Training". I like bouncing ideas around with Dave as he's a really smart guy with good training sense. I talked him in to joining the forum, so if any of you have questions, fire away. Also, Dave works closely with Eric Talmant to help organize the Raw Unity Meet. Dave was actually the one responsible for the live streaming video. |

Welcome Dave. Dave helped me out a lot when I first got started with Sheiko stuff, top notch guy with tonnes of knowledge on that way of training. Dave, you must be getting to know quite a lot about the Bulgarian methods too working with Eric? |

I have a question! :D I'm mostly into raw lifting, yet the lockout is my weakness in bench press. How can I adapt sheiko programs to solve this? Thus far I've tried modifying #29 by replacing the second training of those days which sport 2x bench press with various board presses, and doing my pushups with bands for speed. Great to have someone that knowledgable around. Thanks for answering our questions :). My raw bench press at the moment is 435 (192.5kgs) @ 220 (101kgs). However my 3boardpress has never been stronger than 460. |

If it were not for a tendo unit to measure his velocity for each rep, the training would be much tougher to figure out what works and what does not. |

[krisfranorge 2010-02-11 16:49:05]: I have a question! :D I'm mostly into raw lifting, yet the lockout is my weakness in bench press. How can I adapt sheiko programs to solve this? Honestly, I don't have all the answers. What I have been doing is high board lockout work with 85% of my max for 5 sets of 6 reps 3 times a week. Some of the lifters I have been working with have had success with this. On #29 I would add it in with the dumbbell flies. Thus far I've tried modifying #29 by replacing the second training of those days which sport 2x bench press with various board presses, and doing my pushups with bands for speed. Remember #29 concentrates on building the deadlift.. |

Where do you miss the weight? Usually 10cm short of lockout, 60 degree angle between upper and lower arm I guess. Do you have any video of it? For now, all I have is an old vid of me freestyling 4x150kg+chains/20kg, but if you look past the lack of proper form and ass-tilting, my weak spot is still pretty much the same, and should be vaguely evident on the last rep. (The bench in the vid is 5cm narrower and 7cm lower than competition standard) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOxeKO9ETlo A proper competition lift will be coming up shortly! :) Remember #29 concentrates on building the deadlift.. Which program do you suggest for building the bench press? #29 was really rather a random choice based on the general opinion that it is the most suitable program for sheiko first timers :)
